Colorado Pass

The Colorado Pass is the former nickname for special skiing passes offered by Vail Resorts. This pass is now called the Epic Local Pass.

If you're lucky enough to live in the beautiful state of Colorado, or plan to stay for an extended time, you can great some great deals on skiing and snowboarding.

For the 2011/2012 ski season, the passes are again divided into several package options, which vary according to price and access to ski resorts.

The EPIC PASS features unlimited access to Arapahoe Basin, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly, Northstar, and of course, the mighty Vail.

The Epic costs $669 per adult or $339 per child. There are no blackout dates with this ski pass, which means they are serious about unlimited access. Clearly the Epic Pass is for die-hard skiiers and riders who want total access to the West’s best skiing and riding.

The EPIC LOCAL PASS (formerly the COLORADO PASS) also gives you unlimited access, but only to Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge and Keystone. These resorts have no restrictions. A-Basin is often one of the first ski resorts open for the season, so this is a very popular ski pass.

Also included are 10 restricted days at Vail and Beaver Creek. The Epic Local Pass (formerly the Colorado Pass) is also valid for 5 restricted days at Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe. The cost for the Epic Local Pass (formerly the Colorado Pass) is $519 per adult, $389 per teen, and $259 per child.

Folks who grab this pass are usually people who have easy access to the Front Range and I-25 but want to try out the bigger resort experience a few times during the season.

The SUMMIT VALUE PASS is another unlimited skiing pass with no restrictions to Arapahoe Basin and Keystone, and limited restrictions to Breckenridge. This is great for those only planning to ski/ride in Summit County. The cost is $429 per adult, $329 per teen, and $219 per child.

Several of these packages also include extra goodies like "ski-with-a-friend" tickets (so your friends and family can ski at a discounted rate), 1/2 price tickets to Heavenly, and summer lift access at certain ski resorts, so you can enjoy the Rocky Mountains even when the snow isn't flying.

Visit snow.com/epic-pass/passes.aspx for more detailed information about the ski passes available through Vail Resorts.

Other excellent ski pass packages to consider in Colorado are the Monarch Mountain Season Pass which includes 18 other resorts, and the Rocky Mountain Super Pass, which offers unlimited access to Winter park, Mary Jane, and Copper Mountain.
