Rustic Colorado Springs Cabin Rental
Looking for a charming, rustic Colorado Springs cabin rental? The “Mariposa Cabin” may be your best bet. It’s our favorite mountain hideaway.
Only 15 minutes west of Colorado Springs, nestled up in the woodsy mountain town of Green Mountain Falls, this little cabin rental is quiet, cute, and well-maintained by friendly owners. And it’s got a deck with excellent views of the beautiful foothills.
THE CABIN The cabin itself is only 360 square feet, but it’s open concept allows for plenty of space to move around, prepare meals, and you can even grill outside on the deck with their propane barbeque. Their website says it sleeps 4 due to the pull-out sofa sleeper, but it might get a little crowded with that many people. We think this is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, or even a solitary escape. The 1930s style gives it a lot of charm. Above the door is a set of deer antlers. The knotty pine interior and antique furnishings also maintain its old school cabin feel. But this Colorado Springs cabin rental also has these modern amenities:
- Cable TV
- VCR
- DVD/CD Player
- Movies
- Free local calls
The kitchen is fully functional, with a full-size fridge, propane stove, microwave and toaster. We love the percolating coffee maker on the stove. I don’t know if the coffee’s any better that way, but it sure seems like it. The bedroom is just that: a room with a bed in it. Pretty tight quarters, but it comes with a very comfy mattress, pillows, and quilt. The bathroom is very small as well (watch your head in the shower!) but very functional. This Colorado Springs cabin rental is a great choice if you love the outdoors but don’t love tents. And if you love that rustic feel, but still want your TV, stove and fridge.
The deck is where we spent most of our time at the cabin. Furnished with lounge chairs, the deck has incredible views of the foothills. In the morning, you can sit back, drink percolated coffee, gaze out at the foothills, and listen to the nearby waterfall. In the evening, repeat, while grilling out. So what do you do all day?
NEARBY ACTIVITIES You’re only 15 minutes west of Colorado Springs and all the attractions of the Pikes Peak area. There are definitely plenty of things to do within a few minutes drive. This Colorado Springs cabin rental is also a few minutes from the Waldo Canyon loop and several other excellent hiking trails. And you’re only 15 minutes east of Woodland Park, another beautiful mountain town affectionately nicknamed “the city in the clouds.” But you’re already in Green Mountain Falls, and that’s a fun little town in and of itself.
Within a couple minutes walk, you will find these highlights: *Beautiful Gazebo Lake *Gazebo and Fountain *Mountain Stream *Fishing *Scenic Hiking *Town Swimming Pool - Heated *Tennis Courts *Restaurants *Saloon *Town Store *Arts Shop *Historic Church
We especially appreciated the town’s heated swimming pool. There is something totally relaxing about floating in a pool, staring up at those majestic foothills, with the Colorado sunshine beaming down on you. And since it’s such a small town, we often had the pool to ourselves. The owners of the cabin--Vince and Nadine Guthrie--are helpful and genuinely friendly people, and were very respectful of our privacy during our stay. (We never saw them.) Also, the cabin was immaculate when we arrived. A nice welcome. So… if you think you want a Colorado Springs cabin rental, look a little farther west to Green Mountain Falls and the charming Mariposa Cabin. Rates: $65/night or $390/week (719) 633-1524 or (719) 632-9453 Vince and Nadine Guthrie, Owners/Hosts www.mariposacabin.com
