Colorado Springs Car RentalsColorado Springs car rentals will get you the vehicle you need--whether youre headed straight for the mountains or you just want to kick around town. But arent there a lot of companies in Colorado Springs? Car rentals can be confusing. Which one is best? Our best experience so far has been with AVIS. We don't work for them, and we don't get paid by them, they just happened to give us great service. One of our trips had us arriving to Colorado Springs Airport (COS) after a flight in from Milwaukee, and we knew we had a long drive to Wolf Creek. We were concerned our car rental might cause a setback, as they sometimes do. Turns out, AVIS didnt have our car as planned. But instead of making us wait for another one (this has happened to us twice with other companies), they immediately upgraded our sedan to a full-size SUV!
It was waiting for us right outside the airport doors. We were very grateful and excited about this excellent turn in customer service, and left very happy customers.Turns out we had to drive through a blizzard that night, so we also learned another valuable lesson. Get yourself an ALL-WHEEL DRIVE vehicle. Mountain weather often changes suddenly, and you will be so glad youve got power to all four wheels when the snow falls, or the rain falls, or a boulder falls. It's all about beating gravity. You can drive through the mountains in a Toyota Camry, of course. I do it all the time. But if its winter, or you suddenly decide it would be fun to take a dirt road to a special trail, or the weather gets especially nasty, you will want an all-wheel drive vehicle. Give yourself the freedom to explore Colorado Springs. Car rentals don't have to be boring, or expensive. Even the less expensive Kias and Buicks have all-wheel drive nowadays. An extra thought you might also want a V6 engine. POWER GOOD We drove all over Colorado one summer in Kellys trusty Saturn 4-cylinder sedan, and we made it everywhere just fine. But boy, did it bog down going up those 8% grade inclines. Every time we did 45mph up a mountain, V6 after V6 passed us up like we were standing still, and, well, I think I developed V6 envy. ;) On the safety side, though, the extra power will help you get out of tricky situations better. Just a thought. If youre budget-minded like we are, its tempting to rent the cheapest option. But we recommend you put your safety first in this department. Go all-wheel & V6, and you wont be sorry. Consider your overall trip to Colorado Springs. Car rentals give you the option to explore a beautiful city next to the mountainsand you may want to take a day trip or two deeper into the state. Get in those mountains! Thats what Colorado is all about.
