Colorado Springs shooting ranges are a great way to spend an afternoon in the Rocky Mountain sunshine.

You’ll find both public and membership-required options in the Pikes Peak area.

If you enjoy shooting clays, need a long range to try out your rifle, or just want to practice your pistol skills, give one of these ranges a shot.

Colorado Springs Shooting Ranges


Dragonmans

Dragonmans is easily the most unique of the Colorado Springs shooting ranges, offering a paintball park, historical military museum, and a bike park in addition to the shooting range.

Three range distances can be used by the public. No membership required. Tables, benches, and chairs are provided. Bring your own firearms, no rentals. Targets are available for purchase. They do not accept credit cards, so make sure to bring cash or check.

No time limits. Shoot all day long! Range master on site.

Pikes Peak Gun Club

A chapter of the conservation group Izaak Walton League of America, the Pikes Peak Gun Club dubs itself “Southern Colorado’s Most Enjoyable Shooting Range.”

They offer Trap & Skeet, Sporting Clays & 5-Stand, Rifle Range, and Pistol Range. Members can also enjoy Trail Gun Plate Matches and League Shooting. Rifle and Pistol ranges can be used by Non-Members if accompanied by a Member.

Whistling Pines Gun Club

Of all the Colorado Springs shooting ranges, this is the only indoor shooting range. The Whistling Pines Gun Club prides itself on having the safest, cleanest range in the Pikes Peak area.

They feature an impressive, state-of-the-art facility, with an overall emphasis on safety and family-friendly use. Membership is required.

Store, Gunsmithing, League Shooting, and Firearms Classes are offered.

Cactus Flats Shooting Range – Penrose, CO

Approximately 45 minutes south of Colorado Springs, Cactus Flats is located just east of Penrose, Colorado. They are open to the public and do offer memberships.

Their 25-yard range is first come first served. They also offer a 50-yard rifle and pistol range. Winter trap league, firearms instruction, and shotgun rentals also available.

Ben Lomond Gun Club – Ramah, CO

Another 45 minute drive from Colorado Springs will get you to the Ben Lomond Gun Club’s range, if you head in a northeasterly direction past Ramah, Colorado.

This facility offers every kind of range imaginable, from 35-yard pistol ranges, to 200-600 yard rifle ranges, as well as a small bore silhouette range. Trap, Skeet, and Archery are in the works.

Shooting hours are sunrise to sunset. Membership required.
