Colorado Springs Sky Sox
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox are a AAA minor league baseball team affiliated with Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies.
It's a fully-lighted field, complete with lower box and upper reserved seating, luxury boxes, concessions, and a hot tub overlooking right field. Several updates have recently been made to the stadium, including an improved sound system and high-tech video scoreboard. And did we mention the hot tub overlooking right field? Also, this is one competitive team. Pacific Coast League championships went to the Sky Sox in 1992 and 1995. Former players of note: Sandy Alomar, Jr., Gabe Kaplar, and Brad Ausmus.
Some minor league baseball teams you might see the Colorado Springs Sky Sox play include the Las Vegas 51's, the Reno Aces and the Tuscon Padres.Other highlights include the wild antics of the mascot, Sox the Fox, and the various entertainments provided at the 7th inning stretch, from golfing contests to choirs. One thing to remember—this is Colorado, and the weather can be unpredictable. Our first visit to see the Sky Sox play brought dark clouds in the eighth inning, and then we could see our breath, and then it snowed. A lot. They called the game off early. My first “snow game” ever. So watch the forecast, bring a coat and your sunscreen, and enjoy. Hope you have a ball.
