Green Mountain Falls, Colorado

Green Mountain Falls is a small mountain town 15 miles west of Colorado Springs just off Hwy 24 (Ute Pass). Altitude: 7800 feet above sea level.

It sits between two other mountain towns--Cascade and Woodland Park.

We love this little hamlet. Quiet and relatively remote, Green Mountain Falls is nestled right up against the foothills of Pikes Peak.

A pond is the central feature in the town, affectionately named “Gazebo Lake” for its signature green and white gazebo.

If you enjoy fishing, this is a great place to bring kids and toss out some poles and bobbers.

A fountain in the middle of the lake enhances the Norman Rockwell-like vibe. There is also a beautiful shore-side park complete with swing-set, slides, and a huge sand-playing area. Parents will enjoy gazing at the Colorado views as the kids run amok.

You’ll probably see several ducks and geese walking around as well.

Right across from Gazebo Lake is a small group of buildings that is home to several shops and restaurants, including:

*The Pantry, where you’ll find home-style cooking.

*The Pine Gables Tavern, which has a real Colorado feel.

*Stones, Bones & Wood--an arts and gifts consignment shop featuring a gallery of gifts representing over 20 Colorado artists.

Also up the street is the historic Church in the Wildwood, founded in 1889.

If you enjoy hiking, the popular Catamount Trail is just a short walk up Hondo Avenue. Tranquil views of the Catamount Reservoirs and Pikes Peak wait for you at the top.

One of our favorite things to do in GMF is visit their Municipal Town Pool. Green Mountain Falls

The pool is heated, has views of the foothills (like everywhere in town) and has lifeguards on duty, which is nice if you have young kids.

Because of the beautiful scenery and quietude, Green Mountain Falls is the location of our favorite cabin rental.

We had family stay there recently, and just the daily drive up to visit was so relaxing.

The breezes, waterfall, and pine tree scented fresh air really melts away your stress.

Green Mountain Falls This little town is a great place to visit before or after a trip up the Pikes Peak Highway.

Or if you’re just looking for a peaceful place to have a picnic, meet friends for lunch, or have a romantic getaway.

The sun does set earlier behind those steep foothills, so we recommend visiting Green Mountain Falls in the morning or lunchtime.
