Maybe we're a little biased because we live here, but Colorado Springs offers a lot of choices in the way of romantic getaways. One "must-do" day trip is to drive the Pikes Peak Highway or take the Cog Railway up to the summit of America’s Mountain, Pikes Peak. You can hold hands on a mountain top, above the fruited plains. How much more romantic does it get? Or visit the strikingly beautiful Garden of the Gods, with its colossal sandstone towers. Have a picnic in the shade of an ancient juniper tree and take your photo next to the Siamese Twins monoliths. You can always explore one of many idyllic hiking trails in and around the city. Walk through fairy-tale forests and past whimsical rock formations. Being around so much nature can make you a little giddy, which is always good for romance. Try visiting the mysterious underground Cave of the Winds...dark places and strange sounds might make you want to pull each other a little closer. Or keep it low-key and do some shopping in Old Colorado City. Have an ice cream at the Colorado City Creamery while you’re there. Have a stroll through Downtown Colorado Springs, where a variety of restaurants abound. Visit beautiful Acacia Park, and catch a matinee at the Twin Peak art house movie theater. Order a glass of wine while you discover a new film together. Depending on your budget and taste, the Colorado Springs area offers several lodging choices for a romantic escape.
There are so many options for a romantic getaway--Colorado Springs is definitely a favorite choice for a honeymoon or adventurous holiday. The Antlers Hilton Kimball’s Twin Peak Theater Seven Falls ROMANTIC GETAWAY COLORADO: SOUTH
One romantic getaway Colorado offers may seem an unlikely choice, but the Great Sand Dunes might be our favorite romantic getaway yet--maybe because it’s where we exchanged our first “I love you’s.” Awww... sappy, but true! :)The sweeping mountains, the rolling dunes, the rainbows after an afternoon rainstorm. It’s all very larger-than-life. You can’t help but forget your day-to-day worries and wonder about the true meaning of life. It’s romantic in the biggest sense, but also a great place to walk hand-in-hand along the Medano creek, gaze at sunflowers, or roll down a 700-foot-high sand dune together. If you stay at the Great Sand Dunes Lodge, you'll get a full view of the dunes and Sangre de Cristos mountains off your back porch while hummingbirds hover in nearby feeders. There is also a trail to a secluded waterfall called "Zapata Falls" only a couple of miles up the road. Wear your sandals, because you walk up a shallow stream to get there! After a day of playing in the sand, you can drive 80 minutes due north to the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort in Nathrop, Colorado. They have an Olympic-sized pool naturally heated by hot springs, an even hotter soaking pool, and a steam house--if you can take the heat. The highlight is the creekside natural hot springs that actually mix with the cool mountain water in the Chalk Creek. The sound of the rushing water is so relaxing... Since you're surrounded by cliffs, you can watch wild deer graze along the edge, sometimes they even come down to get a drink from the creek. You can stare up at the stars on a moonlit night, or just gaze into your honey-pie’s eyes. The Mt. Princeton Hot Springs also have rustic log cabins for accommodations, a restaurant with a deck overlooking the Collegiate Peaks, and a spa with creekside massage rooms. Mt. Princeton Hot Springs

Twenty-five miles northwest of Boulder is a resort we’ve also mentioned in our weekend getaway page.Gold Lake Mountain Resort & Spa was described it as “a perfect romantic getaway,” so I guess we have to include it here too! Be warned--Gold Lake is on the expensive side. But for the price, you definitely get an amazing experience. The highlights:
It’s the perfect place for solitude: peaceful, quiet, picturesque. But it’s also a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park if you like to get out for some adventure.
