Colorado Hot Springs

Colorado Hot Springs

Colorado hot springs are a natural part of the Colorado experience. Soothing mineral waters, babbling brooks, beautiful scenery. It’s all here.

You can sit in an actual mountain stream or visit a resort that has the spring water pumped in. Whatever gets your hot springs going.

In Colorado, hot springs are plentiful. And they are generally divided into sulphur & non-sulphur, and clothing-mandatory & clothing-optional.

Here are some of our favorites, and a few more that we’ve heard a lot about…

MT. PRINCETON HOT SPRINGS – Nathrop, CO

(Non-sulphur, clothing mandatory)

This is our favorite pick if you’re coming from Colorado Springs. It’s nice and close--only 1.5 hours west of Colorado Springs in Nathrop, Colorado, and gives you a great Colorado hot springs experience.

The main attractions include an Olympic-sized pool, a soaking pool, a steam shower, and natural hot springs located right on the bank of Chalk Creek. Friendly staff and atmosphere.

THE SPRINGS RESORT – Pagosa Springs, CO

(Sulphur, clothing mandatory)

This resort in the southwest part of the state is a good 4 hours from Colorado Springs, but the experience is definitely worth the drive if you’re looking for a weekend escape or romantic getaway.

Located in Pagosa Springs, the Springs Resort offers eighteen sulphur hot pools with different temps and sizes, and also allows you to sit right in the San Juan river if you are daring.

This hot springs resort is the nicest we’ve ever visited as far as the quality of the pools, grounds, locker rooms and showers. Some places can be a little lo-fi, and this is definitely hi-fi.

HOT SULPHURS SPRINGS RESORT & SPA – Hot Sulphur Springs, CO

(Sulphur, clothing mandatory)

This town isn’t joking about their hot springs resort. The town itself is named Hot Sulphur Springs. Like the name says, it’s a sulphur springs, so pinch your nose, wade in, and enjoy. They offer 24 mineral pools as well as private baths.

From a tented pool to a Ute Cave pool, and several waterfall options, the highlight of our visit to this unique place was definitely the amazing views of the Continental Divide.

While taking in a truly therapeutic soak, nothing matches a pink sunset over the mountains.

See our Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa page for full information.
